...I just want to remind everyone what the purpose of this blog is.
It is to foster a greater discussion about the dance that we all love, and to create a community that goes beyond the classroom.
I've received some comments which were not very constructive; in fact, they were downright hurtful to the person they were directed towards. That's not what this blog is about. Some of those comments contained criticisms (legitimate ones, too!) about the recent show, but I couldn't publish them because they contained hurtful statements about other dancers. I'm never going to publish a hurtful statement about someone else, so please stop trying.
Constructive criticism is good - it helps us become better dancers. Sometimes it can be hard to hear, because no one likes hearing criticism at all, but it's a necessary evil if we want to grow as performers. But there is a fine line between constructive criticism and nastiness, and we have to be very careful not to cross it.
As a matter of fact, here's some "constructive criticism" for readers of this blog - please try to keep your comments related to the post you are responding to. I understand that lots of you want to talk about the show, but the show discussion belongs in the show thread, not in the thread on hand flicking, etc.
See, that was a criticism, but it was constructive. You'll all be better bloggers because of it. ;-)

Cant we all just get along?!?!?! At the end of the day, it was a STUDENT SHOW ... not a Professional show. We are not the BellyDance SuperStars. Obviously, we are all studying the same art form of Bellydance and we are all at different levels. Lets respect eachother as dancers.
Daniela takes time out to create a community where we can all discuss what we enjoy doing most, bellydancing...lets not ruin a great thing by trashing eachother anonymously.
I completely agree with Ciara, we are all students doing something we greatly enjoy. I believe the show was a great success and everyone was great. The only thing I can say, speaking from personal experience is to smile. I was watching the video that my fiancé recorded and I was so serious, but I promise to smile in next years showcase.
I finally figured this thing out took a while, but anyway! I just want to compliment all of the women for the team work and efforts to make the performance what it was. I had nothing but good comments from my family about the program and I was quite impressed myself. I stood in the back of the room and watched some of the program and the response from our audience. It was a good feeling and what an ego booster.
I agree with Robin, I was so proud to be part of this show. My family all picked out their favorite dancer. One liked this one the other liked that one, that goes to show you how different we all are. I think my grandchildren enjoyed the show more than any one. I never so them sit so still for so long. Their little eyes were glued to the stage. It was a great experience. Thank you Daniela for helping me make this dream a reality....
